First Grade Student
Entering her first-grade year with no prior exposure to an English classroom, this student faced a unique challenge. Her mother, recognizing the value of a quality education, commuted from Tecate to provide her daughter with a more enriching learning environment. On the first day, she arrived shy and scared with no prior English experience. However, within just one week of immersive learning and tailored supports, change started to occur. She not only began actively engaging in classroom activities but formed a strong friendship with an English-only speaking student. First Grade Student
Commuting from Tecate, this student faced a lengthy drive each morning with his sister in pursuit of a better education. Initially incredibly shy and hesitant to express himself in either Spanish or English at school, his journey took an impressive turn with the implementation of targeted supports. As the school year unfolded, he formed a strong connection with a fellow student who shared a similar background. Within a few weeks, he found his voice, engaging in conversation in Spanish with his newfound friend, who would often translate for him. The transformation would astounding, marked by a beautiful smile on his face as he confidently participated in morning meetings, singing and dancing- a testament to the support he was receiving within the classroom.
